Tier I, II and III Environmental Assessments

JRE can complete a Tier 1 assessment based on existing site information and the development of a Source, Pathway, Receptor (SPR) linkage and initial site risk screening. Based on the results of the Tier I assessment and the existing SPR linkages there may be a requirement to complete further site investigation works under a Tier II assessment to assess any potential impacts on environmental receptors.

The Tier II assessment may involve trial pitting, borehole and/or groundwater well installation, ecological assessment, surface water monitoring and sampling and landfill gas monitoring and will require analysis and assessment of environmental media to determine vertical and lateral impacts on site.

If the Tier II assessment indicates potential site impacts then the remediation of the site may be required under a Tier III assessment. The Tier III assessment may involve the removal of impacted media and ex-situ disposal or treatment or the in-situ remediation of site media including soils or groundwater.
