JRE can complete environmental risk assessment with reference to the Code of Practice for Environmental Risk Assessment for Unregulated Waste Disposal Sites (EPA Code of Practice) to assess potential lateral and vertical impacts on site. The main tasks included in the risk assessment would be: Tier 1 assessment based on existing site information and development of a Source, Pathway, Receptor (SPR) linkage and initial site risk screening, review of existing environmental quality data for the site, Scored risk screening based on the SPR linkage equations outlined in Chapter 4 of the Code of Practice. The results included in the EPA Matrix 1 would be used to guide further site investigation works and the development of a simple Conceptual Site Model, intrusive site investigation to assess the extent, composition and potential depth of subsurface impacts and completion of a Quantitative Risk Assessment based on available site information from historic site sampling and monitoring and data from the site investigation works.
